the day the earth stood still

September 5, 2008 at 4:57 pm (universe, world)

september 10, 2008 should hail a landmark day for science and it quite literally make the earth (and all time for that matter) stand still.  while i continue to ramble on with my notions of star trek glory i will get down to the real matter at hand.  the large hadron collider (lhc) will be up and operational over near france.  this basically means (in my limited scientific knowledge) that scientists will be able to better understand how the universe might have first started.  proponents against the lhc have attempted to induce panic amongst the ignorant by making statements about black holes tearing the earth apart and having the entire world converted to strange matter. eh, if it happens we won’t be around to complain, will we?  might as well hit the switch and see what happens.  who knows, it could be the first ever time machine… you never know…
